A family-owned farm that offers tours for a small fee, the RAF has a pretty easy time living up to its motto, as alpacas tend to be very sweet and gentle (if you’re picturing a more cantankerous creature, that’s the llama, cousin to the mild-mannered alpaca). During your tour, you’ll hear all about the habits of and daily care for the alpacas as you stroke their shockingly soft fur--and if you’re lucky, you might even receive one of the famous alpaca kisses! You’ll also want to stop by the farm store to browse the yarn, raw fiber, and many artisanal goods made from alpaca fur. If you're feeling especially artsy, the staff will be happy to show you some fun, easy projects great for adults and any kids you might have in tow.
